My Camera Gear

I often hear the comment, “You must have a great camera to take photos like that” In some ways that is true but for me, photography is more about using a camera with the correct Lens and having a good composition. So, I thought this would be a suitable time to share what camera I use and the lenses I currently have.

I currently use a Sony A6100 (cropped sensor) mirrorless camera and I have the following lenses: -

  • Sony 16-50mm f3.5-5.6, This is the kit Lens that came with the camera, the photos are sharp just a Lens I don’t use that often now.

  • Sony 55-210mm f4.5-6.3, A mid-range kit Lens I use for landscape photos. It does have its limitations, but I get the sharpest images at an aperture of f11.

  • Sony 35mm f1.8, This is my most used Lens as it is so versatile. I use it for Landscapes/Seascapes, Macro, Street, and Portrait photography.

  • Samyang 12mm f2.0. This is an ultra-wide-angle Lens that is optimized for astrophotography. I use it for some Landscape/Seascape images, but It’s also great for macro photography as it has a focal distance of 190mm so you can get remarkably close to a subject.
